Temptation Tuesdays

Happy October everybody =) I love October – the cool crisp air, the fresh apples, the pumpkin treats, and the candy, oh the candy. Halloween is coming and I’m starting to plan my costume. This year I want to be something that I can do while running. My friend Ciara gave me a great idea – Smurfette. I’m still working on the logistics, but I’m hoping to do a Trick or Treat Trot 5k, and well, you can’t do that with a costume. Today is also a pretty special day. My dad would want me to say that that’s because it’s his birthday, and that’s true – Happy Birthday Dad! But it’s also because it’s hubby and my wedding anniversary! Today we’ve been married 3 whole years (legally that is – because of the whole ex-pat thing we got married twice: once legally and once in the church) and I couldn’t be happier. So to celebrate, let’s look at sweets. You can’t have a celebration without cake, duh! =p

Foodie posts this week on Doctorate Housewife:

Hello Kitty Caramel Cake with White Chocolate Frosting: super sweet, super tasty cake for kids young and old =)

My September Foodie PenPal and some FroYo: I got a pretty cool package of goodies this month – check it out!

Tempting tidbits from other blogs:

Apple Pie Fudge (Shugary Sweets): Cuz it’s October now, so it’s a perfect time for apple pie and fudge!

Pumpkin Toffee Cookies with a Salted Caramel Glaze (Two Peas and their Pod): The perfect Fall cookie. I can’t wait to try it!

Maple Gelato (Ezra Pound Cake): Because there’s ice cream for Fall too =D

Happy Anniversary!! We got married twice too, so it’s always a toss up which day we celebrate and how long we tell people we’ve been married 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating!

It’s a long story involving lots of family drama! We had a civil ceremony the first time, and a church ceremony the second time…kind of similar to you? Wish we could have a cup of tea together and chat 🙂

Yup, something like that. But thankfully without too much drama. A cup of tea and a chat would be great. Someday we’ll be on the same continent =)

Haha, yes that darn distance barrier 🙂 Random question for you…do people in Brussels identify themselves by a certain name? My sister-in-law and I were talking about this recently, since she just spent some time in Belgium.

Ummm, do you mean the Walloons and the Flemings? The Walloons live in the South Eastern half of the country and speak French. The Flemings (the majority) live in the North Western half of the country and speak a variant of Dutch (some would say it is Dutch) Brussels is the capital of the country, but it’s also the capital of Flanders. However it’s 80% French speaking. There’s a good deal of history and politics and bad blood that go into the story, but the long and the short of it is that the two sides don’t often get along (though sometimes they do). It makes for a pretty messy political scene (though as an American I’m one to talk =p).
