Another Valentine’s Day Treat – Cake Pops for 2

cakepop collage

The Valentine’s Day treats for 2 continue today with cake pops. If you’ve never had cake pops, then let me describe the wonderfulness to you. It’s cake, mashed up with frosting, moulded into a fun shape, sometimes put on a stick, and covered with chocolate and candy. It’s an entire dessert in one cute little package. And for Valentine’s Day it’s the perfect end to a cute little meal for two. And it’s super easy. First you need a cupcake, ANY cupcake…

Funfetti cupcakes for 2

I used one of the cupcakes from my cupcakes for 2 test, but really you could use any cupcake you like. You can buy one, you can make one, you can steal one from your child’s lunchbox. It’s up to you. Once you have your cupcake, start your cake pop adventure by wiping the frosting off the cupcake. Put the frosting aside for a minute. Then take two forks and crumble the cake in a small bowl.cupcake to crumbs

Once crumbled, get your frosting back out and mix it in bit by bit until your mixture starts to resemble Play-dough. Then form it into three small shapes. I used balls -they’re simple, but you could also use hearts or stars or whatever you like.ball it up

Once you’ve got your shapes, get out your sticks and chocolate. Melt a couple pieces of chocolate (10g is more than enough), dip the ends of the stick in the chocolate and stick them in the shapes. Now put them in the freezer for at least 15-30 minutes.on sticks

Once the chocolate has firmed up and the sticks are good and stuck to the shapes, you can melt the rest of your chocolate (50g should be more than enough), dip the shapes in the chocolate, then sprinkle with sprinkles or mini candies. Let dry and you have a perfect treat for 2 (plus one for you to try before dinner.)

Thanks! I think doing it with one cupcake is a great introduction. Let me know if you try it =)
